The Importance of Using Reusable Facecloths for Skincare

  1. Switching to reusable facecloths, you not only reduce waste but also save money in the long run. DIY facecloths are a great eco-friendly alternative, as they can be washed and reused multiple times.
  2. Choosing the right fabric is key to creating gentle and effective facecloths. Opt for soft and absorbent materials like microfibre or organic cotton, as they are ideal for delicate and sensitive skin. Consider the texture of the fabric, as some towels provide a gentle exfoliation for a more thorough cleanse.
  3. When caring for you facecloths, use a gentle detergent and avoid using fabric softeners, as they may leave a residue that can affect the absorbency of the fabric. Ensure they are thoroughly dry to prevent mold and mildew.

Step by Step Instructions

  • Used towels that you are looking to donate or discard. They are generally softer and work great for washing your face or removing makeup
  • Cut 1 piece of Terry cloth towelling 12×12 inches
  • Cut 1 piece of lining ( this can be a recycled tea towel , pillowcase or cotton fabric. 12 x 12 in
  • Place right sides together and sew a 1/2 inch seam around the perimeter of the square. ( leave an opening about 3-4 inches to pull the face cloth , right side out. )
  • Press the opening seams inside .
  • Sew around the perimeter of the square at 1/4 ” enclosing the opening seam as you go.
  • You can press again once you have sewn around the perimeter.
  • That is it, you now have a beautiful face cloth you can use again and again and it didn’t cost you anything if you used recycled materials.
